June 21 is the first official day of summer. Here are the top five items that will help keep your kids healthy and safe all summer long.

WATER

Kids can quickly become dehydrated in the heat. Keep water in their systems and caffeine out!

HELMET
Appropriate safety gear is a must for children in sports. Whether it is a catcher’s mask for baseball or a helmet for biking and inline skating, it may save a life!

SUNSCREEN
You already know how important this is for preventing skin cancer. Just don’t forget! Keep a supply in your purse so you’re never caught unprepared.

LIFEGUARD
Kids need constant adult supervision whether in a plastic kiddy pool or a full-size public pool. A child can drown in as little as two inches of water during the time it takes to answer the phone.

SUNGLASSES
Children’s eyes need protection from those harmful UV rays, too. Keep sunglasses and a brimmed hat handy for outdoor activities.
