Kids love water. Unfortunately,
the novelty wears off the kiddy pool long before
summer’s end, so here are some ideas to keep water fun fresh all summer long. |

Pool
Chef
Gather
bowls,
cups,
ladles,
funnels,
colanders—any
kitchen
items
that
water
can
sit
in
or
flow
through
and
put
them
in
the
kiddy
pool
for
a
splashing
good
time.
Water Paint
Kids love to paint, but here’s a
way to eliminate the mess. Send
them outside with a container of
water and a paintbrush. Let them “paint” the house, the deck, their
bikes and the swing set.
Sponge
Tag
Give
one
child
a
large,
wet
sponge.
Yell, “Go!”
The
first
person
to
be
tagged
with
the
wet
sponge
is “it.”
Spray
Wars
No
need
to
buy
water
guns,
just
give
your
kids
spray
bottles
filled
with
water
and
set
them
loose.
They
can
spray
themselves,
each
other—they
may
even
water
your
trees
and
shrubs.
Bucket
Relay
Set
up two
full buckets
of
water
and
two
empty
buckets
a
few
yards
apart.
Kids
take
turns
using
a
small
Dixie
cup
or
turkey
baster
to
transfer
the
water
from
the
full
bucket
to
the
empty
bucket. The
first
team
to
fill
their
empty
bucket
wins.
Dodge
Balloon
Big
kids
like
water,
too.
Simply
take
any
game
normally
played
with
a
ball
and
replace
with
water
balloons:
dodge
ball,
baseball,
jai
alai,
lacrosse
or
even
a
game
of
catch.
(Be
sure
to
pick
up
all
balloon
pieces
after
the
fun
is
over.
Leftover
bits
may
pose
a
threat
to
local
wildlife.)
Sprinkler
Fun
Set
up
the
sprinkler,
get
a
Slip-‘n-Slide
or
even
invest
in
a
splash
pad.
If
it
squirts
water,
the
kids
are
sure
to
love
it.
