Why not liven up a dreary February day with a Valentine
party? Kids can make their own invitations and help decorate
with construction paper hearts and red and white streamers
and balloons. Then to get the party going, try some of these
fun activities or make up a few of your own.
Valentine
Bingo
Make
your
own
bingo
cards
out
of
card
stock
or
poster
board
or
alter
existing
cards,
substituting
the
word “heart”
or “cupid”
in
place
of “bingo.”
Use
a
Valentine’s
Day
sticker
or
paper
heart
for
the
free
space
in
the
middle.
Pick
Up
Hearts
Set
out
a
couple
pie
plates
filled
with
candy
conversation
hearts.
Give
each
child
a
cup
and
give
each
a
turn
at
trying
to
get
as
many
hearts
as
they
can
into
their
cup
using
a
set
of
chopsticks
in
60
seconds.
For
older
kids,
increase
the
difficulty
by
telling
them
to
keep
one
hand
behind
their
back
and
lowering
the
time
limit.
This
game
can
also
be
played
in
teams.
Kissing
Fish
Make
paper
fish
(two
or
three
per
guest),
number
each
one
(corresponding
to
numbered
prizes)
and
attach
a
metal
paper
clip
near
the
mouth
of
each.
Put
the
fish
in
a
large
plastic
bin
or
a
small
kiddie
pool
or
simply
put
them
on
the
floor.
For
a
fishing
rod,
tie
a
string
to
the
end
of
a
dowel
rod,
small
curtain
rod
or
a
stick
from
a
tree.
At
the
end
of
the
string
attach
a
magnet.
Each
child
catches
two
or
three
fish
and
takes
home
the
prizes
associated
with
the
numbers
he
caught.
Prizes
might
be
party
favors,
like a
box
of
candy
hearts,
a
plastic
heart
ring,
a
noisemaker,
etc.
To
add
a
little
excitement,
one
or
two
of
the
prizes
might
be
a
little
nicer
than
the
others,
like
a
stuffed
animal
or
toy
car.
Pin
the
Heart
on
Cupid
Play
like
pin
the
tail
on
the
donkey,
but
the
blindfolded
partygoers
will
try
to
get
a
heart
as
close
as
possible
to
the
point
of
cupid’s
bow.
Love
Song
Musical
Chairs
Play
musical
chairs
to
some
fun
love
songs
from
the ‘50s
and ‘60s,
like “Chapel
of
Love,”
“Love
Me
Tender,”
“Stop
in
the
Name
of
Love”
or “The
Book
of
Love.”
