You already know the public library is the perfect place to check out a new book or research for a school project, but did you know it’s also a great place to sing songs, play games, see a movie or read to a dog? Next time your kids scream, “WE’RE BORED!” check out the library offerings for some mind-stimulating fun.

Story Time For pre-schoolers. Open to all children with an adult accompanying them. Phenix City Russell County Library Wednesdays at 10a.m.	Miss Tonya’s Storytime Includes fingerplays, songs, one or two books and a craft. All ages welcome. Children’s Book Adventures Focuses on the use of liter-ature to encourage lifelong learning while demonstra-ting that reading is fun! Each Program highlights a particular book and activities revolve around the book’s theme. Activities may include games, songs, poems, puppets and crafts. Terry Branch Library Third Monday of the month at 4:30 p.m. North Columbus Branch Library Fourth Saturday of the month at 2 p.m. South Columbus Branch Library Third Wednesday of the month at 4 p.m.	Passport Adventures Introduces children to different cultures and customs from around the world through books and storytelling. Activities may include games, songs, crafts and sampling foods from other countries. Columbus Public Library Second Saturday of the month at 2 p.m. Mildred L. Terry Branch Library Second Monday of the month at 4:30 p.m. North Columbus Branch Library Second Saturday of the month at 2 p.m. South Columbus Branch Library First Wednesday of the month at 4 p.m.	PAWS to Read Program Designed to raise a child’s reading level and boost his or her self-esteem through a positive reading experience. All dogs used in the program are trained by “Paws Columbus” and are certified therapy dogs. The goal of the “PAWS to Read” program is to improve the reading abilities of the students who participate and to offer a fun and rewarding experience at the library. Tiny Tales Ages 0 to 24 months A fun program that introduces babies and toddlers to books and language activities and encourages parents to take on the role as their child’s first teacher. Activities may involve stories, books, rhymes, music, movement, finger plays, puppets and educational toys. Columbus Public Library Mondays at 11:05 a.m. Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. Mildred L. Terry Branch Library Wednesdays at 11:15 a.m. North Columbus Branch Library Mondays at 11:15 a.m. South Columbus Branch Library Saturdays at 11 a.m.	Time for Tots Ages 18 mos. - 3 yrs. A fun, high-energy reading program that aids in child-ren’s speech development and motor coordination, while helping them to gain valuable pre-reading skills. Activities may involve stories, books, language, rhymes, music, movement, asdfactivities, puppets and educational toys. Columbus Public Library Thursdays at 10:35 a.m. North Columbus Branch Library Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.	Preschool Adventures Ages 3-5 years Preschool Adventures encourages visits to the library for socialization and interaction with peers. Children listen to read alouds and enjoy songs, rhymes and fingerplays. Flannel board stories and puppets may allow for audience participation to reinforce that books and reading are fun! 	Creative Kidz Ages 6 – 11 years A fun and creative program designed to connect kids with books and to encourage them to use the library regularly. The program’s activities may involve audience-participation stories, book talks, hands-on craft activities and reader’s theatre. Mildred L.
